Haighs has been a family bakery since 1950 when my grandfather, Herbert Haigh, started the business in Bradford. A humble beginning in a little shop with a coke-fired oven.
Since those beginnings, we are proud to still call ourselves a family business. These days we have moved on from a coke-fired oven, but still use many of the traditional recipes and methods.
We have a dedicated sales and customer service team. They are supported by pickers and warehouse staff who ensure your order is received on time by our own delivery drivers: Your business success matters to us and our sole aim is to support you and your development.
Our broad range of products are available to you and by taking advantage of our volume discount, you can secure your own profit margins.
At Haighs we are always happy to receive our customer’s suggestions and by appointment, we would welcome you to come look around our production facilities.
We promise to always work hard to provide you with wholesome, quality products, made from the finest ingredients at the right price.
Through investment in new bakery machinery, delivery vehicles and a bake-house heat exchange unit, we continue to work hard to reduce our carbon footprint.
We actively promote career development through young person’s apprenticeship schemes and structured training programmes.
We look forward to working with you.
Our team work hard to produce quality products that are competitively priced.
We are constantly researching and developing new recipes to keep our comprehensive product list updated.
Our aim is to support our customer business developments and to aid their margins via a reduced cost base and provide a one-stop solution with our broad product choice.
Our products are made from scratch (no pre-mixes here!) using top-quality ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. All of our products are made to the highest food safety standards, and we are proud to have achieved SALSA accreditation – a food safety certification scheme designed for smaller food producers.
We are always striving for Haighs to be a great place to work and for people to feel part of the team and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. We promote career development via recognised qualifications, apprenticeship schemes and on-site structured training programmes. We actively seek to employ people in our locality.
Although working to replace plastic packaging we do try to ensure that the plastic used is recyclable. We recycle cardboard and plastic and dispose of general waste responsibly.
With new bakery machinery, heat exchange on the oven flues, new delivery vans, regular reassessment of efficient delivery routes and continuing investment to enable us to run more efficiently we constantly aim to reduce our carbon footprint.
We make fresh bread daily to order but if we do have any extra, we donate it to St Georges Crypt in Leeds – a charity that provides 24/7 emergency accommodation for men and women who are homeless or rough sleeping.
We work hard to eliminate food waste in all our production processes. If we do have any, it is given to our local farm.
